The North East Coast of Tasmania is where charming seaside villages meet world-class mountain biking trails and impressive golf courses that feel as if they exist at the edge of the world. It could therefore be seen as the adventure capital of Tasmania, a title of which we are sure the North East Coast would wear with pride!
This region of Tasmania is also home to some of the world’s most famous lavender fields, which bloom to life in January each year. This has quickly become one of Tasmania’s most sought after tourist attractions, also casting a spotlight on a previously overlooked area on the tourist trail.
The biggest town in the area is a farming community known as Scottsdale, Tasmanian-famous for their potato crops and hearty homemade pies. If you are travelling between Launceston and Scottsdale you will be spoiled for choice with many of the vineyards mentioned in the North of Tasmania, all of which are popular amongst locals and visitors alike.
Another popular addition to the North East of Tasmania has been the state-funded construction of Blue Derby mountain bike trails. This has seen a huge influx in regional investment properties in a previously overlooked ex-mining town. While these areas are much more difficult to predict and considered higher risk, they certainly yield impressive results.
